What is Microblading ?Microblading (also known as Eyebrow Embroidery , Feather Brows or Hair-stroke Eyebrows) is a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure that is carried out by a qualified cosmetic tattoo artist. It involves using a specialized manual hand-tool that holds a disposable microblade and is pulled gently across the skin, leaving behind individual tiny hair strokes that mimic your own natural eyebrow hairs. Microblading is a technique that yields extremely natural looking brows and is best for clients that want hyper-realistic results or are afraid of having "bolder" eyebrows.
-
What does my appointment involve? When you arrive, you will have an initial consultation with your artist. The consultation involves the explanation of the procedure, assessing your current eyebrows and skin type as well as establishing your desired shape. You will then be asked to fill out an informed consent form. This is to collect your medical history, contact details and to further explain the procedure. A topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin and left to sit for approximately 60 minutes to ensure a pain-free process. Once the anesthetic has come off, your natural eyebrows will be shaped . ( We take care not remove your own hairs) and a new shape is meticulously mapped out according to your facial features and will be drawn on with a waterproof pencil. This shape is then tweaked until approved by you. The microblading takes place after this, and generally takes around 30 - 45 minutes to perform. You will then leave with a touch-up appointment date , aftercare gift pack (including instructions, ointment and a step-by -step of the healing process) and an amazing new set of eyebrows.

What is the difference between Microblading , Microshading , Ombre and Powder Brows?Microblading is the original hairstroke brows, these strokes closely mimic real brow hair and yield a very realistic and natural look. These brows generally last around 12-24 months. Microshading is a powdery effect that is often used in conjunction with microblading. We can completely control how bold or dark you would like your microshading and do anything from a full bodied "filled in" look or a natural shade for volume and density. Sometimes shading onto of microblading is necessary to disguise any visible gaps or asymmetries with the brows. These brows generally last around 12-24 months. Jess’s Signature Ombre - These brows are our popular “Instagram Bold Brows” . The results are usually a more dramatic brow effect that resembles a makeup look. Signature brows are done by doing a fully microbladed brow with strokes that are left "clean" in the front and a dark ombre shade throughout the rest of the brow. These brows generally last around 12-24 months. Powder Brows ,also known as machine brows, are a modernised version of traditional permanent makeup brows. This technique is extremely popular among people with oily or sensitive skin or as cover up’s and corrections over old permanent makeup/ microblading. Powder Brows are more permanent ( 2 - 3 Years) and defined than Microblading. They are usually done in an ombre style (softer fronts to more solid tails).
-
How does it work?Once we have carefully mixed a colour pigment that is perfect for you - the colour is then is deposited into the superficial epidermis layer of the skin with a tiny sterile disposable microblade which allows us to create bespoke, crisp hair strokes - mimicking the natural look of real eyebrow hair.
-
How long does my appointment take?Your appointment will take around 2 to 2 and a half hours, this is split up into a few sections: 10 minutes for your consultation , 45 - 60 minutes for your anesthetic, 20 minutes to perfect the drawing of your brows and then 35 - 45 minutes for the actual microblading procedure.
-
Will my eyebrows look fake?Absolutely not. When done by a qualified, experienced artist, microblading yields the most natural looking hair stroke eyebrows. We take care to make sure that the colour and shape chosen is perfect for you and that your healed results look flawless and realistic.
-
How long does it last?Microblading requires a 6-12 week touch up following the first procedure. After which the pigment tends to last between 12-24 months depending on how your skin heals. After this period of time, you may need a colour boost or refresher annually to maintain the longevity of your brows.
-
In what case is a person unable to have Microblading done?Microblading is not suited to anyone undergoing chemotherapy , radiation or acne treatment ( you must be off any of these treatments for a minimum of 6 months). Use of any blood thinners, steroids, acne treatment or heart medication and certain chronic medications is not allowed. You cannot have Microblading if you have recently had botox around your eyebrows or a chemical peel on your face. Pregnant women CANNOT be microbladed under any circumstances. Please send us as much information as you can prior to your appointment . Microblading is not suited to very oily or damaged skin or in cases when a person has hyper pigmentation, eczema or keratosis. PLEASE NOTE: We do not work on previously microbladed/tattooed eyebrows without a prior consultation.
-
Does it hurt?We make use of a topical anesthetic which is then topped up throughout the procedure making Microblading relatively painless. The sensation is similar to dry shaving or threading. NB: Please inform us prior to your appointment if you are allergic to Lidocaine or Tetracaine , if you are pregnant or nursing or if you have any auto-immune diseases such as diabetes or HIV.

Can I wear makeup after I've had my brows done ?Yes, although NO makeup will be allowed on your eyebrows until the scabbing is completed, roughly +- 10 days. Eyeshadow and foundation around the brow area is advised against.
-
How long does it take to heal?Healing time differs from person to person. Scabbing usually lasts around 10 days , in which the eyebrows need to be kept clean of any creams and makeup. You will also not be allowed to wet your eyebrows or sweat during the healing. Once your scabs have come off naturally and the brows appear much lighter, penciling/filling in can resume (if needed) until your touch-up at 6 - 12 weeks ( Thereafter the same 10 days applies )
-
What should I avoid before my appointment?Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure. Do not tan two weeks prior to your microblading, or have a sunburned face. Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to the procedure. Do not work out the day of the procedure. Do not have botox 4 weeks prior to the procedure. Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure. Do not dye or tint your eyebrows from when you make your appointment. In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit: Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your Microblading Do not consume coffee or caffeinated products before your procedure Do not take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood)
-
How do I care for my brows?Treatment Day 2 Hours after procedure, gently wash brows with provided soap, rinse and pat dry with cotton pads. Apply a very thin layer of ointment with a clean earbud. Repeat the above every 2 hours on the first day only to keep the wound clean and avoid scab formation. If your brows were done late in the afternoon, please cover them with a thick layer of ointment overnight and wash off in the morning. Apply cream 10 minutes after this. Washing your brows is only allowed on the first day of treatment. For The Next 10 - 14 Days Avoid wetting your eyebrows at all. Apply a very thin layer of ointment with a clean earbud in the mornings and evenings only. No heavy sweating , swimming or activities that would get your face dirty. Do not rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally fall off. Picking can cause scarring pigment loss and delayed healing. Absolutely no water, cleansers, creams, makeup, Vaseline, Zambuck, oils or any other products on your brows for 10 days or until healed. For The Next 30 days Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure. NO facials, Botox, chemical treatments, laser therapy or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks. Once brows have fully healed, apply a thin layer of sunblock daily to protect them from fading. PLEASE NOTE: Eyebrows will appear darker and bolder due to natural scabbing and healing for the first 10 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures. Once your scabs come off, your eyebrows will be noticeably lighter, please do not panic, the colour will resurface.

Can I have Microblading done if I'm breastfeeding? No, it is not recommended for someone who is breastfeeding to get their eyebrows microbladed because it is a form of a tattoo and it penetrates into the bloodstream, Breastfeeding mom's will need to "pump and dump" for 72 hours post microblading.
